Spring is officially here! While most people are rejoicing, Your girl is weeping. Why? Because, this means summer will be here shortly. For those of us living in Houston, that means sweltering heat! You have never experienced summer heat until you experience Houston’s summer. So humid, slimy, greasy, hot, ughhhh….I shudder just thinking about it. For those who have oily skin like me,summer means your sebaceous gland goes into over drive producing oil enough to fry an egg on ones face! This can clog pores and lead to irritating break outs. I have a little trick I use during the summer months to keep shine and clogged pores at bay. You can also use this cheap trick if you simply don’t want your makeup dripping down your face during the summer on a cute day out. MILK OF MAGNESIA!

Yup…you read right…..
while Milk of magnesia was not created to cure oily skin or acne, it sure is an inexpensive and effective way to keep the shine away. It was originally prescribed by doctors to relieve constipation and other gastrointestinal issues. It’s a gentle, kinder laxative compared to others. Although, now, most people use it on their skin. it is still wildly popular for its original intent.
I’m not a doctor and I don’t understand the science behind this, all I know though, is that it works great for me and a couple of people!
How to Apply to Skin:
1. Cleanse skin with whatever you usually use
2. Use a moisturizer on your skin
3. Using just a thin layer, apply the milk of magnesia all over the face with a cotton ball. A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY!
4. Allow to dry and you can apply your regular makeup if you choose
Benefits:
It tightens pores
Clears acne
Acts as a makeup primer
It keeps the shiny appearance of oily skin away
(I recommend using the original non-flavored formula)
Try it!
I hate exercising, especially running. But,it is a necessary evil in this mostly sedentary western living. Having accepted this, I came up with a coping mechanism I engage in while working out.
Most times to stay motivated, I listen to rap songs with crazy beats, except on rare occasions when my iPod is not with me. If I don’t have my iPod, I have to think about something or someone who makes me upset (for real!)….I safely assume the ground is their head and trudge along forcefully(my bad). I know it is wrong and I’m working on it
but, this is the only way for now, that keeps me from focusing on the arduous task, that is cardio!.
On Friday I met up with a friend for my weekly run and my iPod was not with me, I could not go back home to get it. while running I had to use my imagination, I tried thinking about people, situations, anything that would make me angry and feel like punching someone in the face *I promise you, I’m not violent. To my mortal dismay, my usually imaginative mind decided to stay blank except the image of this flare bottom pants I had.
My dad, bless his sweet heart, bought them for me, years ago….I never wore them. I was going to give it to the salvation army However, I am unashamedly a daddy’s girl and could not bring myself to give it away…. Dad gave them to me, it kinda means something special….you know?. After my run, I went home and cut them into shorts…..what do y’all think? Nay or yay? I am rather scissors happy this days….I will try not to cut everything in my house into some kind of “design” that never actually comes out like the picture I had in my head. Have a great week people!
Spring is here!!!! and Solange showed up and showed out in this Spring Shoot. We think Solo is très chic

Very Retro….We like.
On the throne of sweet surrender
I have nothing but to offer You my life
Greater love I have not found it
Oh by mercy You have eased this troubled mind
Open hearted I will search and I will find
Sin is broken
The lost now chosen
In the Father’s heart
You reign in all the earth.
Ok..I stole the title from Lecraes song “Forty deep”. That is my jam! When ever that song comes on in my car….I literally take on a rapping personae, like for real dude! With the hand movements and all. Honestly, you just need to witness the epicness of it all. Anyways, this is a forties/fifties inspired dress, I went a size bigger…I didn’t want the dress to cling. I Like this dress for the simple fact it’s Red. What makes Red special? For me? Red is my favorite color and that already makes it special. But, that aside…. my personal feelings for Red goes way deep..You see, Red reminds me of blood…uhuh! Not just any blood but Christs blood on the cross. So Red has a special meaning for me and of course it adds a little pizzazz to an otherwise boring work day. So here is to Red
Dress: Ross
Clutch: Ross
Necklace: My Old roommate discarded it and i turned it into a treasure (Midas Touch)
Listen to the song below!
Natural hair, believe it or not, gives you a swag of your own! For example Solange Knowles, All I knew about her was that she was Beyonce’s Sister, and she danced background for destiny’s child thanks to papa Knowles. I could care less for her solo projects they did not matter to me and looking at how she fared a lot of people did not care either. This girl goes natural and voila! She is a Style Icon, it almost feels weird because she just gets it totally when it comes to fashion…It’s like girl where have you been all these years?

Her style seems very 70′s inspired with the animal/ African prints and Bohemian Chic…..I Love, love, love her style
